  • Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund was founded in 1975 in order to empower and support Latin-American families with the resources and information they need to succeed in higher education.

The fund’s founders noticed a disparity in the proportion of Latin-Americans enrolling in higher education and decided to remedy these issues. Since the fund was created it has awarded over $500 million in scholarships to promising Hispanic/Latino students across the United States.

The HSF Scholarship is one of the biggest scholarships available to young Latin-Americans and Latin Nationals in the US. While the fund places an emphasis on STEM majors, you do not have to choose a specific field of study to receive the scholarship. Students can be rewarded up to $5,000 to help support them during their studies.

  • College Board, National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP)

This particular scholarship is for students who demonstrate brilliance and perseverance in their studies. You can qualify if you are at least one-quarter Hispanic and if you have outstanding scores on the PSAT/NMSQT in your junior year of high school.

As with most scholarships, the National Hispanic Recognition Program is about rewarding students who have great academic potential and are in need of extra financial assistance. As a College Board program the primary requirements are high assessment scores. If you think you’ve got what it takes, this may be the scholarship program for you.

This non-profit organization aims to provide educational support and opportunities for Latin-American and Latin national students based in Oregon and Idaho. While this is a scholarship that is specific to a certain area, since the program was created it has awarded scholarships to hundreds of young Hispanic/Latino students.

Students who have excellent academic records and willingness to pursue college education can apply to this scheme. They award annual scholarships that will support you to study for your diploma and enjoy college life.

  • The ALA Spectrum Scholarship

The American Library Association, is the oldest and largest library association in the world. The ALA was founded in 1876 with the mission statement “to provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.”

One way the ALA has attempted to fulfill their mission statement is by providing financial support for minority students trying to complete their college degrees. The ALA Spectrum Scholarship is one of the largest scholarships available to Latin-American and Latin nationals in the US.

The scholarship aims to provide financial support and address the lack of representation within the librarianship profession. If successful, students will be given $5,000 in scholarship money to attend the college of their choosing.

The non-profit organization, Great Minds in STEM offers the HENAAC scholarships every year to promising students with ambitions to study STEM subjects at college or university.

In an attempt to address the lack of diversity among STEM professionals, Greats Minds in STEM (which used to be called HENAAC) created this scholarship to attract more Hispanic students to work in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

The HENAAC Scholars Program is one of the biggest scholarships available to Latin-American and Latin national students in the US. To be eligible you must demonstrate high-levels of academic performance and intend to study on a STEM course. If successful you will be awarded $11,000 which you can use to study at a college or university of your choosing.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute is a Hispanic nonprofit and nonpartisan 501 leadership development organization established in 1978 by organizing members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute has a number of programs that were created to provide vital financial assistance for young Latin-Americans and Latin nationals in the US who want to pursue bachelor’s degrees, associate’s degrees and postgraduate degrees.

The aim of these programs is to increase the graduation rates for Hispanic students and encourage more Hispanic students to pursue further education and public service. Over the years the CHCI has provided valuable support for many young Hispanic students during their college journeys.
