Bitcoin’s slide under the US$100,000 mark has pushed the crypto market into its most cautious mood in months. Sentiment has dropped into deep “extreme fear,” and traders are moving defensively as the broader market absorbs a sharp pullback. The drop has erased more than 23 percent from recent record highs and pulled the global market cap down to a six-month low near US$3.27 trillion.

Selling pressure intensified quickly. More than US$1 billion in leveraged positions were liquidated within a short window, which forced additional sell orders across major exchanges. Bitcoin then slipped into the US$94,000–$96,000 zone, its weakest level since May, and major altcoins followed the same downward path. Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Cardano posted steep losses, even as a few smaller tokens such as Lisk, Alchemix, and Tellor moved higher against the trend.

Mounting selling pressure

Long-term holders added another layer of stress. Roughly 815,000 BTC left their wallets in the past month, marking the largest outflow in more than a year. Many investors took profits after the recent peak, while institutions also stepped back. ETF inflows slowed, and several funds rotated into safer assets. Shifting U.S. treasury liquidity patterns increased uncertainty, and delayed economic data weakened confidence across financial markets.

Technical conditions have also deteriorated. Bitcoin broke below its 200-day moving average, and analysts now point to US$94,000 as an important support area tied to miner break-even costs. A failure to hold that zone could open the door to moves toward US$90,000 or even lower, especially with futures markets showing strain.

Traders are on the watch for Federal Reserve signals, tech-sector earnings, and new ETF activity in the coming weeks. Some analysts believe the pullback is a normal correction after months of optimism. Others warn that the speed of the decline shows how quickly confidence can fade when macro pressure, liquidity shifts, and heavy selling collide in a volatile market.
