Happy Pakistan day!

Every 23rd of March Pakistan celebrates Republic Day, commemorating the Lahore Resolution of 1940. On that same date in 1956, Pakistan signed its first Constitution during the transition from the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan becoming the world’s first Islamic Republic. Let´s remember that Pakistan gained its Independence from British India in 1947.

Pakistan Day is highly celebrated throughout the country especially in the capital Islamabad, where a military parade is held and broadcasted all over the country. A 31-gun salute fired in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals plus the parade that takes place in Constitution Avenue of Islamabad are the major highlights of this public holiday. The president also handles awards to those soldiers and civilians who have made special achievements or contributions to the country.
