Google Cloud is pushing deeper into banking with an AI platform built to handle some of finance’s most research-heavy work. Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services can support everything from credit analysis and portfolio risk to KYC checks, with Deutsche Bank and CME Group already using the technology. The launch could help financial institutions cut the time and cost behind complex research while keeping compliance and audit requirements firmly in view.
Financial research gets automated
Currently in preview for capital markets and corporate banking, Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services includes a Financial Research agent with more than 50 specialised skills. Secure connections provide access to data from FactSet, LSEG, Moody’s, MSCI, PitchBook, S&P Global and other major providers.
Rather than simply summarising information, the system can complete multi-step research and provide citations, confidence scores and data snapshots for auditing. Such transparency could prove useful in finance, where institutions need to verify how conclusions were reached.
KYC is one example. Documents and regulatory filings can be analysed to map corporate structures and trace who ultimately owns them. Other uses include portfolio risk analysis, credit research, advisory insights and bond issuance.
Deutsche Bank helped design the Financial Research agent and plans to use it in parts of its Corporate Bank. Beyond that rollout, the lender is exploring the technology for financial crime risk management, forecasting and scenario analysis.
Security stays central
Sensitive financial information creates a major hurdle for enterprise AI adoption. Google says prompts, documents, customer data and generated outputs remain within an organisation’s private cloud environment. None of that information is used to train or fine-tune its foundation models.
Existing permissions also carry over, limiting the AI to information each employee can access. Gemini Enterprise centrally handles security, risk management and audit logging. Google Cloud launched a legal version alongside the financial product, with healthcare and life sciences expected to follow.
