Ethereum's 71% Rally Revives Talk of a $26,600 Price Target

Ethereum has staged a strong recovery over the past three months, bringing ambitious price targets back into the conversation. A 71% quarterly gain has renewed talk of whether ETH could eventually 10x from its September 30 price. Reaching that target, however, would require Ethereum to overcome several major hurdles involving market size, supply and its previous record.

A $3.25 trillion target

Tenfold growth from $2,663 would put Ethereum at roughly $26,600 per coin, more than five times its all-time high of $4,946 reached in August 2025. Such a price would give ETH a market capitalisation of about $3.25 trillion based on its current circulating supply.

That figure would exceed the entire crypto market’s current value of approximately $2.86 trillion and come close to twice Bitcoin’s roughly $1.67 trillion market cap. Ethereum currently accounts for about 11% of the cryptocurrency market.

Maintaining that share would mean the overall market needs to grow roughly tenfold to around $29 trillion for ETH to reach the target. Another route would involve Ethereum gaining market share while fresh investment expands the wider crypto sector.

Supply could push the required valuation even higher. Around 122 million ETH are currently circulating, and unlike Bitcoin, Ethereum has no fixed maximum supply.

Record high comes first

Despite its recent rally, Ethereum remains about 10% lower in 2026 and 35% below its level from a year ago. ETH is also trading roughly 46% beneath its record, meaning the cryptocurrency would first need to climb around 86% just to return to $4,946.

Network activity adds another variable because Ethereum creates new ETH to reward validators while burning part of its transaction fees. Higher activity can offset issuance through increased burning, while quieter periods can allow the circulating supply to grow.

Breaking the previous record would therefore represent only the first milestone on the path towards $26,600. Any tenfold move would likely require substantial growth across the broader crypto market alongside Ethereum capturing a larger share of it.
